Exodus 13:1-2 meaning
The Lord commands Israel to set apart the firstborn of all people and animals to His service.
Exodus 13:3-10 meaning
The Lord gives commands regarding the annual festival of Unleavened Bread and Passover.
Exodus 13:11-16 meaning
Verses 11 – 16 contain the LORD’s instructions dealing with the firstborn.
Exodus 13:17-22 meaning
This section (verses 17 – 22) describes the beginning of the journey from Egypt to the Red Sea. It stresses that the LORD led them with a pillar of cloud or fire. He chose a route to the Red Sea for a specific purpose. The point is also made that Moses made sure that Joseph’s bones were carried with them.
