Psalm Chapter 36 contrasts humanity’s wickedness with the unchanging love and faithfulness of God. David, identified in this psalm as a “servant of the LORD,” begins by describing the scheming heart of the wicked. He points out how evil can become pervasive and deceptive when people lose fear of God. Through vivid language, David portrays the empty pursuits that lead people astray and notes how this corrupted path robs them of understanding and truth.
In stark contrast to the darkness of human sin, David exalts God’s towering love, faithfulness, and righteousness. He highlights how the LORD’s steadfastness “extends to the heavens” and how His judgments are “like the great deep” (Psalm 36:5-6).
