Revelation 5 Bible Commentary
Please choose a passage
The book with the seven scrolls is revealed, and no one but the Lamb is found worthy to open the seals and read what’s inside.
The Lamb who is worthy comes and takes the book and all in the throne room fall down and worship Him.
Every living creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth joins in singing praises to the Lamb that was slain, celebrating that He is able to open the scroll and read the contents that will restore all things.
John's vision of the throne room of God continues. He sees a book with seven seals in the hand of Him who sits on the throne. No one was found worthy to break the seals and read the contents of the book, and John mourns greatly over this because the contents of the book would have brought restoration. But one of the twenty-four elders in the throne room told John that the Lion from the tribe of Judah has overcome so that the book can be opened, and the Lamb that was slain is revealed. The Lamb is found to be worthy to break the seals and read the contents of the book, and so everyone—the elders and angels and creatures in the throne room, along with every created thing in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth, myriads of myriads, and thousands of thousands of creatures—all sing praises to the Lamb, proclaiming His worthiness. They fall down in worship before Him and sing a new song of His glory and honor.
